How is the Euromillions Jackpot amount calculated?

September 18, 2020 by Euro reporter Leave a Comment

Half of the wagering amounts recorded for each draw by all participating lotteries is allocated to the winnings of the respective draw as well as to a fund called “Reserve Fund”. The very first Jackpot of a EuroMillions game cycle always includes a starting amount of € 17,000,000. The amount required to reach the € 17,000,000 will be drawn from the “Reserve Fund”.

Can the EuroMillions Jackpot keep on rising endlessly?

No. As long as there is no winner in rank 1, the Jackpot increases with each draw. Nevertheless, there is a maximum amount for the Jackpot (= ceiling) which is currently set at € 200,000,000. Once that ceiling of € 200,000,000 is reached, the portion of the Jackpot that exceeds this maximum amount will be allocated to the first lower rank containing at least one winner.

If there is € 200,000,000 in the Jackpot five consecutive times, and there is still no winner in rank 1 on the fifth draw where the Jackpot contains € 200,000,000, that Jackpot will be divided among the winner (s) of the rank in which there is at least one winner on that fifth draw. In addition to this amount, the normal profit in the relevant rank is added. Once the record Jackpot of € 200,000,000 has been won or divided, for the next cycle the record Jackpot is increased to € 210,000,000, and then to € 220,000,000, € 230,000,000, € 240,000,000 and finally € 250,000,000, the maximum!

How does the EuroMillions profit distribution take place?

The EuroMillions profit distribution takes place according to fixed percentages, which are laid down in the EuroMillions regulations.

How does the Corona crisis affect EuroMillions?

April 27, 2020 by Euro reporter Leave a Comment

EuroMillions is a well-known lottery in Europe. It has nine participating countries, namely the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium. At the moment the Coronacrisis has a lot of impact on the lives of Europeans. For example, the way they can play in a EuroMillions draw has changed. Why is this and how has it changed?

Less consecutive draws

The EuroMillions group has asked all participating countries to reduce the number of consecutive EuroMillions draws. The decision has been made out of solidarity. The impact of the Corona crisis varies greatly from country to country. Some countries are more affected than others. The number of consecutive EuroMillions draws for which you can play in one go will decrease. This is temporary, happens in a gradual way and has no impact on the Jackpots.

Phased out per two draws

The decision of the EuroMillions group means that a Multidraw, which was usually possible up to ten consecutive draws, will be phased out per two draws. So the Multidraw evolves from playing for 10 consecutive draws to 8 draws and then 6 draws until 4 consecutive draws. The number of 4 consecutive draws will be maintained until the situation returns to normal.

Do not come to the store unnecessary
EuroMillions keeps it possible to play for 4 draws at once in order to limit the visits to a point of sale. This is in line with the rule for to merchants not to let players come to the store unnecessarily. If you go to a point of sale with your form with 10 draws, the seller will inform you that the system accepts your game form but only for the number of pre-played draws that are still possible at that time.

Perhaps a practical example makes it more clear. Perhaps you like to play on Tuesday, March 31. In that case you can participate in 8 consecutive draws. It also means that you will participate in this draw from March 31, 2020 to the draw on Friday April 24th, 2020.

Scheme corona with consecutive EuroMillions draws

If you like to play on Tuesday, April 7 for a series of consecutive draws this will be possible for 6 draws. So you will play for the draw on Tuesday, April 7 up to and including the draw on April 24. Read and save this scheme with the consecutive draws of EuroMillions:

Which draw? How many consecutive draws? Last draw
Friday, March 27th 10 Tuesday, April 28th
Tuesday, March 31st 8 Friday, April 24th
Friday, April 3rd 8 Tuesday, April 28th
Tuesday, April 7th 6 Friday, April 24th
Friday, April 10th 6 Tuesday, April 28th
Tuesday, April 14 4 Friday, April 24th
Friday, April 17th 4 Tuesday, April 28th
Tuesday, April 21st 4 Friday, April 24th
Friday, April 24 4 Tuesday, April 28th
After April 24th Stays 4 until the situation is normal again

EuroMillions player who has won 105 million pounds still works as a builder

March 10, 2020 by Euro reporter Leave a Comment

Past November a EuroMillions player won an incredible 105 million pounds. The very lucky winner has made an interesting decision: he decided to keep working instead of living a luxurious millionaire lifestyle. What’s more: two months after his won he still works as a builder.

Working in a windproof jacket
Steve Thomson from Selsey (West Sussex) is 42 years old a new millionaire. This didn’t keep him from installing double-glazed windows and a new front door at a property near his three-bedroom home. There are several pictures in which we see Steve in a black windproof jacket, jeans and a beanie. He has a hand saw and cuts the white wooden frames.

A promise to keep
It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that Steve is still working. After his win the builder promised not to let his customers down before Christmas. He said would complete all his current building jobs. So Steve is a man that keeps his word!

‘Salt of the earth’
Ellie Wood, neighbor of Steve, isn’t surprised as well and called the guy and his wife ‘salt of the earth’. He isn’t shcked at all that Steve is going to finish his building jobs before retiring. It’s ‘just the guy he is and he would never leave anyone in the lurch’, the neighbor said to the paper.

The new multi-millionaire told the British paper Mirror after his win that he would go back to work, but not until next week. He called the big win ‘really overwhelming’, which is very understandable. Steve has a wife called Lenka. He called the money ‘too much’ for them.

A new home
Steve and Lenka want to do a lot of good things with the money and, in his own words, Steve is going to be ‘sensibly generous’. Of course the couple is going to buy some nice things for themselves as well. For example, they’re planning to buy a new home so that their three children can finally have their own bedrooms.
